Your Most Supportive Savasana Ever

Birdseye view of Laura standing on her blue yoga mat with her white rabbit Percy, yoga props, tea and an essential oil at her feet.

Are you ready to experience your most supportive savasana ever?

Today I am sharing with you one of my favourite savasana set ups. This savasana or when you have a little extra time that isn't legs up the wall!

The first time I tried this savasana set up in an online class as a student I was a little skeptical. I expected it to feel uncomfortable and restrictive.

It was actually the complete opposite!

This was the most supported savasna that I have experienced and it really helped me to relax. I actually think I fell asleep! Now I try to it whenever I have time for a longer savasana. I find it an especially helpful set up when I'm feeling fidgety.

Setting Up for Your Savasana

For this Savasna set up you will need:

  • Bolster or pillow for under your knees

  • Yoga strap

  • Yoga block

  • Pets optional

How to set it up:

  1. Gather all your props before you practise.

  2. For extra warmth and comfort lay a blanket down over your mat.

  3. Place your bolster or pillow under your knees.

  4. Loop your yoga strap around your legs.

  5. Place your block between your legs. Depending on the size of your block and how your hips feel you may like to have the block at its narrow or middle width between your legs.

  6. Tighten your strap around your legs and the block. You want this to be firm to feel supported and keep your legs and block in place but not too firm.

  7. Place a blankets on top if you are feeling cool. You can also place a pillow under your head if you like.
